Understanding the environment

Genie is only as reliable as the technology around it.

Genie is Magentus’s desktop practice-management product. Podium IT supports the workstations, server arrangements, connectivity and connected devices around Genie, with vendor coordination when a problem requires application-specific input.

  • Genie specialist-practice environments
  • Server, workstation and integration support
  • Secure access and managed backup
  • Responsive onsite and remote assistance

What Podium IT supports

One first point of contact for managed clients.

When a managed client has a Genie problem, they can contact Podium IT first. We diagnose whether the cause sits with the application, device, server, network, integration or user access; resolve what we can; and coordinate with the software vendor when their input is required.

That ongoing involvement helps us learn each environment, identify recurring causes and reduce avoidable vendor calls and disruption for practice staff.

Practical support scope

Common Genie support situations and the first checks.

These are illustrative troubleshooting situations, not claims about a particular client or guaranteed fixes. Product changes and database work should follow current vendor instructions.

Genie is slow on one workstation

Start by comparing the same task on another workstation. Record when the delay began and whether other applications are affected. Podium IT can investigate device health, storage pressure, network connectivity and recent changes before escalating an application-specific issue. A single slow device and a practice-wide slowdown need different investigations.

Staff cannot connect after a network or server change

Confirm whether the issue affects every user, one location or remote staff only. We review the connection path, server availability, name resolution and authorised access with the practice. Avoid changing database settings or reinstalling the application without an agreed vendor-supported plan.

Scanning or printing interrupts reception

Check whether the scanner or printer works outside Genie, which workstation is affected and whether the issue began after an update. This separates a device, driver or network problem from the workflow inside the application. Share error messages through the agreed support channel without including patient records.

A backup succeeded, but can the practice recover?

Agree a representative restoration exercise with the responsible vendor and IT provider. Confirm access to the application and required supporting files in an isolated test environment, record the time taken and assign follow-up actions. A successful backup notification alone does not demonstrate a usable recovery.

Remote and onsite support

Medical IT support across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.

Podium IT provides remote and onsite IT support across metropolitan Melbourne, including the bayside, southeastern, eastern, northern and western suburbs. We also service the Mornington Peninsula and surrounding areas within approximately two hours’ drive of our Cheltenham base.

Arrange support for your location

Tell us your suburb, the systems affected and whether the issue is interrupting your team. We assess what can be handled remotely and arrange an onsite visit when physical work is needed. Attendance, travel and any after-hours arrangements are agreed for your practice; our service area is not a two-hour response guarantee.
